Wet Night Ahead

Rain storms were the perfect cover for “sapper” attacks. Sappers were highly trained enemy soldiers that avoided the outer defense of a base and placed explosive charges inside. The firepower we could mobilize to defend a base was negated and returning fire endangered fellow soldiers inside the base. Sappers were seldom seen but they were an effective terror weapon by rumor alone. Paranoia and fear kept a tired man awake.
