Waiting for a Lift

Water was dispensed from an Army treatment plant in Tay Ninh base camp and delivered to our battery by pulling the water trailer behind a truck or air-lifting it by helicopter. The trailer is slung with straps that will be attached to the underside of a Chinook helicopter. Hooking the ‘ring” required being under the Chinook as it hit full lifting power. The power of the draft could drive sand through skin.
A glass of the water taken from this trailer would settle out 1/4 inch of dirt in less than an hour. It was not like drinking bottled water now.
