This was the largest and most protected home along the local roads we travelled. It is surrounded by concertina barbed wire and is equipped with a radio antenna, so it may be the home of a local military officer or leftover from a former French resident. Several rubber plantations were spread around Tay Ninh province and were operational French businesses. Plantations presented ambush opportunities; trees planted in rows allowed good cover for the ambushers and no place to hide for a unit being ambushed.
