This village road shows wear from vehicles larger than the road was built to handle. The shade was so inviting! Being in shade was a relief from the beating handed out by the Vietnamese sun but also inviting to ambushers, so we did not even slow down. Shade in the rice paddy farming country around Tay Ninh was rare and I tried to enjoy it whenever I found it under safer conditions.
