This and the 6 images that follow were taken from a wooden tower inside FSB Washington. Pictures of the tower are in albums on this site. These images look west to Cambodia which is less than 7 miles. The tower was home to experimental radar said to detect ground movement, but it kept us shooting at fairy tales. A later version would help at the battle for FSB Crook in early June 1969. A Google search using FSB Crook RVN will take you to sites that cover the battle.

Many forms of construction to improve our living standard, such as a shower utilizing ammo boxes, are visible. The smoke at the far edge is human waste being burned and it fouled the air everyday. This was punishment work and I was awarded the opportunity too often.
