Pot Hole

This low spot in the road held water most of the 5 month wet season. It grew after a rain then evaporated to about this size but never dried out. The big negative consequence of building the road using laterite was the baked laterite surface did not absorb water so the water either ran off the road or pooled on the road surface. The length of the pothole grew from heavy vehicles using the road at low tide. This bad boy needed major redesign and repair to carry our vehicles but as you cansee from the oxen tracks it worked for Vietnamese-style transportation.
