Parking

The helipad at Tay Ninh was minimal and primitive even by World War I standards. Rockets and mortars were fired at the choppers but seldom damaged one. Fortunately for us the enemy mortars in our area did not have time to adjust their fire and Viet Cong rocket launchers were primitive and inaccurate. In larger base camps each chopper would park in a protective “garage” to reduce the chance of damage.
