Our Hooch. Looking SW.

The 55 gallon drum on the platform at the back corner of our hooch was our emergency water supply during the rainy season. Fog often limited helicopter landings so our water resupply bladder could go empty. The rainwater in the drum was our alternative. One evening at dusk a buddy that had a flashlight and I needed water for coffee. We climbed up the sandbags to reach inside. After filling our container, I climbed down and my buddy said, you’ve got the biggest fuc*ing spider I have ever seen on your back. I told him to deliver a death blow with his flashlight, which he did. It was merely stunned so when it hit the ground, like a good soldier I gave him a Ronson (cigarette lighter) flame bath and moved away with dispatch. I hate spiders! 48 years later I still get goosebumps when I remember this day.
