New FSB

The start of a fire support base offers little protection from attack and no organization to defend against one. FDC requires light to operate and this night we had little to cover our light and were ripe for being the aiming point in any attack. We did not know when we moved in that North Vietnamese soldiers were arriving in large numbers. Until now our disputes were with Viet Cong (local farmers by day) but the new arrivals had better tactics and equipment and no farm work to keep them tired.
