Lesser Gate

The Cao Dai, along with another religious sect the Hoa Hao, had private armies and were actively involved in Vietnamese politics. Many small local villages had Cao Dai “churches”; each had a single open eye below the front roof peak. This is the main church compound and numerous smaller surrounding buildings. The last 12 images in this gallery have contemporary pictures inside the headquarters, compliments of Clark Chipman.
