Home Sweet Home

Gardens were close to most rural homes, grew a wide variety of vegetables and were tended with care and hard work. Farmers purchased little or no food, sold part of their crop for cash and lived at near starvation level. Refrigeration was unknown in the rural Tay Ninh area and that limited how food could be preserved. Electricity was rare in the country as was medical care and about everything used in everyday life back in America.
