This is how fruit and vegetables were sold in our part of rural Vietnam. We seldom traveled in places where much food was sold, and roadside stores had little merchandise available. Selection was not part of shopping. Small “farmer markets” along roads in Tay Ninh specialized in a few food items, but were nothing close to a grocery store in my home of Russell, Kansas.
