Eagle Flight 4

A Huey crew was 2 pilots and 2 machine gun operators and could carry 6 passengers. Company-sized operations required each helicopter carry 2 loads to the landing zone (LZ). Landing and takeoff are done at low speed and that is when helicopters were most vulnerable to attack. Enemy soldiers hidden in the LZ attacked as the first group of helicopters were landing. The objective was downing the helicopters to prevent the other half of the infantry company’s arrival and this half exiting the trap.
