Eagle Flight 1

This tree line was a hiding place used by our enemy to watch us, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Moving west towards Cambodia, jungle took over and there were way too many places for their soldiers to hide in these woods. Mortar, rocket and ground attacks were launched from this tree line, aided by the tunnel complex. FSB Washington (this place) was sited at the edge of what we called triple canopy jungle. The Book “The Tunnels of Cu Chi” covers the local tunnel complexes that undermined a huge area and the part they played in our war. Cu Chi was the headquarters base camp for the 25th Division and it suffered various attacks launched from the tunnels.
