After grain was separated from the stalk it was bagged and moved home. Chaff was removed by throwing small amounts into the air above a gathering cloth and stirring the pile with a garden tool. Wind did the rest. No part of the rice farming I observed was done with machines. Watching farm work in Vietnam made me realize that working on our family farms was a cupcake. Watching Vietnamese farmers work made me understand I am REALLY LUCKY to be born in America!
