Big Load

Cattle or buffalo drawn carts moved large loads such as rice straw that remained after harvest or logs harvested in the nearby rain forest. Small loads were moved using a bicycle or a human-carried load pole. Oxen pulled the plow that turned the soil for the next cycle of rice growing. I suspect people and war material were hidden in some loads. American artillery men did not check Vietnamese vehicles for contraband and I am sure some was carried on occasion. We were not trained or expected to inspect them.
