The man in front was hired to dispose of our fecal waste by burning it. This act required a precise mixture of gasoline, diesel and our semi-liquid waste. He was working with base camp human waste solids and was difficult to burn. This job was my specialty in our field battery but alas I had to share presiding over this sacred rite with others in more trouble that day than I was.
Papa San did not return to work after a failed and costly enemy attack on Tay Ninh base camp; few if any of the shit burners returned to work ( I wonder why?) and women took over. Base camp air could be turned black with this smoke on a calm day, from all the fires.
